Dr. Joshua A Broghammer is an Assistant Professor of Urology at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Born and raised in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Dr. Broghammer earned both his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Iowa. He then completed his urology residency from Wayne State University at the Detroit Medical Center in Detroit, Michigan. Prior to joining the faculty at the University of Kansas, he completed a fellowship in trauma and genitourinary reconstructive surgery at the University of Washington’s Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Washington.
Dr. Broghammer is a candidate member in the American Urological Association (AUA) and an associate member of the American College of Surgeons (ACS). Dr. Broghammer has taken an active role in leadership positions serving as Secretary for the Resident Associate Society of the ACS and consultant to the Residency Committee of the AUA.
Dr. Broghammer has published several peer reviewed articles on urologic trauma and is currently working on several book chapters. He has completed numerous presentations at both regional and national levels in the field of urologic trauma and genital reconstructive surgery.
Dr. Broghammer specializes in the treatment of injuries related to trauma including urethral stricture disease, renal injuries, ureteral strictures, genital injuries, and bladder injuries. He performs prosthetic surgery for prostate cancer related complications including penile prosthesis for erectile dysfunction, artificial urinary sphincter (AUS), and male sling for incontinence. Dr. Broghammer also performs surgical correction of Peyronie’s disease and treatment of buried penis. In addition, he treats general urologic problems including renal cancer, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), and kidney stones.
